When the Boston Red Sox signed David Price as their ace in the off season, many hoped the pressure would be off Clay Buchholz and he could become the number 2 man in the rotation.

Making his first start of the spring on Sunday Buchholz struggled with his command and left the game with one out in the second inning. The Sox would eventually beat the Baltimore Orioles 8-7.

Buchholz allowed 4 runs on 3 hits while walking 3 in his 1.1 innings of work. After the game he did not seem concerned with his performance and said he was just trying to get his normal throwing in while working to refine some of his pitches.

The Sox pulled out the 8-7 win over the Orioles with Travis Shaw leading the offense with 3 hits and 2 rbi, including the go ahead 2-run single in the bottom of the 8th inning. Xander Bogaerts and Hanley Ramirez each added 2 hits and an rbi.

Boston is now 3-2 in Grapefruit League play.
