Clifford Guides Cats To Playoffs
Should Steve Clifford win NBA coach of the year honors? Think about this...the former UMaine Farmington player and Woodland HS coach has guided his Charlotte Bobcats to a 39-38 record and a playoff spot in his first year as head coach.
A year ago, the Bobcats finished with a record of 21-61, the second worst record in the NBA. Charlotte's upcoming playoff appearance will be just the second in franchise history.
Clifford's team includes players such as former Celtics Al Jefferson, UConn star Kemba Walker and Kentucky's Michael Kidd-Gilchrist.
After his playing days as a UMaine Farmington Beaver, Clifford's first coaching job was in Woodland. He coaches the Dragons for two seasons before moving to the college ranks.
Clifford spent 13 seasons as an assistant coach in the NBA before getting a chance to coach his own team in Charlotte.
NOTE: Steve Clifford brings his Bobcats to Boston to play the Celtics Friday night. You will hear that game live on Sports Radio 92.9 The Ticket with live coverage starting at 7pm.
