When the New England Patriots begin defense of their Super Bowl Championship they will have to do it without their starting running back who will serve a suspension from the NFL.The League announced Tuesday that LeGarrette Blount will be suspended for the first game of the season after violating the league's substance abuse policy. Blount was with the Pittsburgh Steelers last season when he was arrested for possession of marijuana. He was eventually released by the team and picked up by the Patriots in November.

Blount will be allowed to participate in off-season workouts and training camp. His season debut will be in week two.
