A week after a lackluster performance by quarterback Ryan Mallett and the Patriots offense, progress was made in a 42-35 win over the Eagles Friday night.Tom Brady saw his first action of the preseason and had a difficult start before leading the Pats to their first score of the game. On the first possession of the game Carey Williams picked off a Brady pass and returned for a score. Brady then led the offense on a 74 yard drive that ended with his 15 yard touchdown pass to Kenbrell Thompkins. Those two offensive series was all the action Brady would see. He finished 6-10 for 81 yards and a touchdown.

Rookie quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo played the rest of the first half completing 6 of 12 passes for 72 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Ryan Mallett who was criticized for his play in the first preseason game looked sharp as he played the second half and went 7-11 with a touchdown pass and a touchdown run.
