The New England Patriots and wide receiver Julian Edelman have agreed to a contract extension on Thursday afternoon.

Edelman was set to make $4.5 million with the Patriots in 2017 and then become an unrestricted free agent once the season concluded.  He has been with the team since 2009 when he was drafted in the seventh round by New England.  For his career, Edelman has 425 receptions for 4,540 yards and 24 touchdowns.  The WR has also led the team in receptions in three of the past four seasons.  The Pats have won two Super Bowls during Edelman’s tenure.
