The Boston Red Sox wasted a 15 strikeout performance by Chris Sale by not giving him enough run support and the Toronto Blue Jays eventually hit a walk-off 12th inning home run to beat the Sox 5-3 Friday night.

Light hitting catcher Luke Maile hit the game-ending homer of Brian Johnson.

Sale was brilliant, striking out 15 Blue Jays through nine innings while not walking a batter. Only Pedro Martinez and Roger Clemens have done that in the Sox uniform.

The Sox offense went cold after the 4th inning. In innings five through 12, the Sox had exactly one hit, a single by Brock Holt.

The Sox stay tied for the AL East lead with they Yankees who also lost. Both the Sox and Yanks are 26-12.
