Pablo Sandoval will be heading to the disabled list and utility infielder Josh Rutledge has been recalled to replace him on the 25-man roster, according to the Red Sox.

Rutledge was rehabbing in Portland and went 0-3 on Monday night during the 5-0 Sea Dogs loss.  He played all nine innings at third base for Portland.  Rutledge will be active for the game tonight versus New York and hit .265 in 2016 with Boston.

The Red Sox are hopeful to have Dustin Pedroia back this week, as the second baseman will not need an MRI.  Sandoval's DL stint will be retroactive to April 24th.
