Top-seed Woodland will head to the state title game after defeating No. 2 Jonesport-Beals in a tight north region final at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor.

The teams split in the regular season and Saturday's contest proved just how evenly matched the teams were this season.

When the buzzer sounded, Woodland came away with a 40-37 win and claimed their first regional title since 2009.

Senior Justin Worden had 13 points in the win over the Royals. Sabre Phelps added seven points and Drew Hayward had six points.

For Jonesport-Beals, Adam Robinson had 19 points and Kaiden Crowley had nine points.

Woodland improves to 18-3. Jonesport-Beals ends its season at 16-4.

What's next: Woodland will play Greenville for the Class D state championship at 2:45 p.m. at the Augusta Civic Center.
