It took 15 innings and five hours and 23 minutes but the the Red Sox finally beat the LA Angels 7-6 Friday night-Saturday morning.

Mookie Betts delivered a top of the 15th inning solo home run that broke a 6-6 tie. It was he second homer of the night.

The Sox had a 6-4 lead but closer Brandon Workman gave up two runs in the 9th inning to blow the save and force extra innings.

Darwinzon Hernandez pitched two scoreless innings and then Andrew Cashner pitched four scoreless to get the win.

Along with the Betts home runs, JD Martinez added a homer and three RBI.

Albert Pujols had the big bat for the Angels with four hits and three RBI.

The Sox have gone 5-1 on this roadtrip and now sit with a 73-62 record. The race for the wildcard playoff spot is one with Boston 5.5 games behind the Oakland A's.
