The Brewer High School Athletic Hall of Fame will induct six new members and two teams as part of the Class of 2019. Induction ceremonies take place in September.

Phil Adams Jr., ​Class of 1977, was a standout basketball player leading his team to three Eastern Maine Championship Tournaments. At 6’8” and dominating the court in both offense and defense, Phil was named to the 1976 and 1977 Eastern Maine All-Tournament Teams. In baseball, he​ excelled as a pitcher and first baseman and was selected to the First Team PVC All-Star Team. Phil was also named Brewer High School’s Athlete of the Year in 1977.

Darren Beers,​ Class of 1994, was a superior ice hockey player for Brewer High School and is the first inductee whose primary sport was ice hockey. During Beers’ senior season, he scored,at the time, a school record of 28 goals and recorded 21 assists in one season​​and helped the Witches earn the school’s first ever regional championship in 1994. Beers would go on to play NCAA Division II hockey at St. Michael’s College in Vermont where his squad won the 1999National Championship and he was subsequently named an All-American. He is being inducted into that school’s Athletic Hall of Fame this fall as well.

Kim Dunn Gormely, ​Class of 1987, was an elite swimmer winning three PVC and state championship titles in the 100 yd freestyle as well as three PVC and two state titles in the 200yd. free and she was also named the 1987 Girls’ Class A Swimmer of the Meet. A four-time Maine State All-Star, she set PVC meet records in the 100 and 200 yd. free as well as four school records, two of which still exist today over 30 years later.

Dave Gregory, ​Class of 1993​,​ is the first male soccer player to be inducted into the Brewer Athletic Hall of Fame. With his outstanding skills on the soccer field, Dave was named three times to the PVC Class A All-Star Team as well as the Eastern Maine All-State Team in 1991and 1992. Dave is the only soccer player in school history to be named to the All New England Team, twice. Dave also was the​​1983 Indoor Track State Champion in the 60 yd. Dash and named to the “All-State” Baseball team in 1983.

Dan O’Connell​. As a coach, a public servant, administrator, and volunteer, Dan has been at the forefront of change and improvements over a 40-year career of service to the City of Brewer, the Brewer School Department and the Brewer Witches athletic program. Renovations and improvements to many sports facilities in Brewer over the last several decades, as well as the recent renovations at Brewer High School including the physical Athletic Hall of Fame, are a direct result of Dan’s hard work and leadership. Dan has also been an umpire for over 30years.

Robbie White​, Class of 1988, was an outstanding baseball player excelling on the pitcher’s mound as well as second base. A three time member of the PVC All-Conference Team, he helped lead his teammates to an Eastern Maine Class A Championship title in 1988 and was named to the First Team Class A All-State Team. He’s the only baseball player in school history to be selected as a High School All-American. He also was a starting guard on the 1988 Eastern Maine Class A Championship basketball team.

The ​Girls Cross Country and Indoor Track Teams​ being inducted​​ symbolized the dawn of anew, and very important era in women's athletics at Brewer High School that was marked with excellence and championship performances. The 1980 Girls’ Cross Country Team was the first female team ​ever​ to win a state championship title for Brewer High School. This legendary team paved the way for the school’s first state title in Girls’ Indoor Track in 1981. These historic teams marked a period of running dominance on the trails and track with subsequent state titles in Cross Country in 1981 and Indoor Track in 1982 and 1983 with the rosters comprising of many of the same female student-athletes. The Indoor Track successes set into motion an elite standard for others in that sport as Girls’ Indoor Track holds the most state championship titles of any team at Brewer High School with eight total
