Wide receiver Danny Amendola was released by the Miami Dolphins on Friday.

The move creates $6 million in cap space for the Dolphins. The team, which went 7-9 last season, is in rebuild mode under new coach Brian Flores, the Patriots defensive play-caller during the 2018 season.

In 15 starts for the Dolphins last year, Amendola posted 59 receptions and 575 yards, both team-highs.

The 33-year-old played in New England from 2013-17, catching 230 passes for 2,383 yards and 12 touchdowns.
