The Kenduskeag Stream Canoe Race has been rescheduled for Saturday, April 25th.

According to Tracy Willette, Director of Bangor Parks and Recreation, "“The conditions this spring have been challenging to many race organizers. After assessing the entire course yesterday, we made a determination to reschedule the race.”

This is the first time in 49 years that the Race has been postponed.

The Kenduskeag is still iced over in a lot of areas and peppered with mini-iceburgs that would make the course much tougher than it normally is.

“There is still a significant amount of ice in the first ten miles of the course” added Willette. We were not confident that the ice would release in time to create a safe course for our paddlers.”

The 49th annual  race was supposed happen on Saturday, April 18th.  Pre-race registrations will now be accepted up until Friday, April 24th at 1:00 p.m.  Paddlers can register at the Bangor Parks And Recreation Departments website.
