Maine Doughnut Shop Named One Of The Best In The Country [VIDEO]

Fodor’s Travel has complied its list of the 10 Best Doughnut Shops in the U.S., and a local business appears on the list.

The Holy Donut has two locations in Portland, ME (Park Ave and Exchange St).

Fodor’s Travel writes that, "Every bakery has its secret ingredient, and for Portland’s Holy Donut, it’s potato. Owner Leigh Kellis uses Maine potatoes in all her doughnuts, with sweet potato, vegan, and gluten-free options rounding out the highly original menu.”

The Holy Donut's first location opened on Park Ave about four years ago. The company added a second location in the Old Port about one year later.

The full list from Fodor's Travel also includes Union Square Donuts (Boston), Dough (New York City) and Federal Donuts (Philadelphia).
