Perhaps it would have been better for manager Alex Cora to send out the Red Sox alumni who played an old-timers game before the Sox took on Atlanta. The Braves beat the Sox 7-1.

A rare off day on the hill for Chris Sale. He gave up a three-run home run to Tyler Flowers in the 2nd inning and then gave up three more runs in the 5th. Sale lasted only 4.1 innings and takes his second loss of the season.

On offense, it was a scheduled off day for J.D. Martinez and then Mookie Betts was pulled from the lineup before the game with 'left side tightness'. Braves starter Mike Foltynewicz took a no-hitter into the 6th inning. The Sox managed just one run and four hits all day.

The (36-17) Sox settle for winning two out three in their series with Atlanta and now have a one game lead over the Yankees in the AL East.
