David Ortiz is coming back to the Boston Red Sox, but not in the same role as before.

Yesterday at an event at an Eastern Bank location in Massachusetts announced that he will be join the Red Sox front office, according to WEEI.  Ortiz said that he would be a lot more present in the Boston sports scene in the future as a result.

“I'm going to be up in the front office. Doing some things like going seeing players. That's going to happen. At some point you're going to see more often around, things like spring training,” said Ortiz to WEEI

According to Ortiz, he’ll be doing things akin to what Pedro Martinez and Jason Varitek within the organization and meeting with various players too.

It’ll be nice to see Big Papi come back into the fold, though I think most fans wouldn’t mind seeing him swing a bat in a uniform soon.
