After asking the team for his release and cleaning out his locker, New England Patriots defensive tackle Vince Wilfork agreed to a new contract with the team on Thursday.Wilforks unhappiness came after the Patriots asked him to restructure his contract which would provide more resources to sign free agents and draft picks. Wilfork not only refused but asked the team for his release. Cooler heads have prevailed and the 32 year old agreed to a reported 3-year $22.5 million dollar deal. The final two years of the deal are option years which means it basically boils down to a 1-year $8 million dollar arrangement with $3 million guaranteed. This reduces his salary by $3 million, giving the Pats more wiggle room under the salary cap.

Wilfork seemed much happier as he posted the news of a deal on his twitter account.
