Rick Porcello struggled on the mound all night long as the Red Sox returned home to Fenway Park and lost to the Oakland A's 6-5.

Porcello got through six innings but gave up five runs on nine hits. It's his second straight bad outing and his first loss of the year.

The Sox kept getting back within a run all night on homers by J.D. Martinez and Rafael Devers but they could never get the game tied.

A Khris Davis solo home run off reliever Carson Smith proved to be the winning hit.

Sean Manaea, who out hit the Sox a month, was just good enough to get the win.

The Sox fall a half game behind the Yankees for first place in the AL East at 28-13.
