Perhaps no two plays help define the way things are going in the American League East. Jackie Bradley Jr. makes a spectacular catch in a Red Sox win. Catcher Gary Sanchez lollygags running out the final play in a Yankees loss.

At the end of the night, the Sox lead is six games over the Yanks.

In Baltimore, the Red Sox got six strong innings from Rick Porcello, got timely hitting and played great defense in a 5-3 victory over the O's. The win puts the Sox 40 games over .500 (71-31) for the first time since 1949.

Meanwhile, in Tampa Bay the Yankees were losing to the Rays 7-6. Many in Yankee land think Sanchez didn't run hard enough while trying to field a wild pitch nor fast enough in the final play of the game.
