The Red Sox first lead of the game last night came with two outs in the 13th inning and the timing was perfect. A 5-4 win over the St. Louis Cardinals and a two game sweep in the series.

Rick Porcello gave up four runs early in the game and then settled in. He pitched six innings, giving up nine hits, three walks and six striketouts.

The bullpen did the rest. Robbie Ross Jr, Matt Barnes, Joe Kelly, Robby Scott, Craig Kimbrel, Heath Hembree, Fernando Abad and Ben Taylor combined to shut down the Cards for seven innings. Taylor got credit for the save.

The offense got going in the 7th inning with a Jackie Bradley Jr 2-run homer.

Then in the 8th, the Sox tied the game with a RBI triple from Xander Bogaerts and a sac fly from Andrew Benintendi.

The 13th inning started with a Mitch Moreland double and then eventually the pinch hit, game winning hit by Chris Young with two outs.

The Sox improve to 21-18 and head to Oakland next.
