It happened in college basketball last year when UMBC upset #1 Virginia and now it has happened in college hockey. AIC (American International College) knocked off #1 St. Cloud St 2-1 Friday night in the first round of the NCAA Hockey Tournament.

That's #16 upsetting #1.

And, what's more, the AIC Yellow Jackets were playing in their first Division I NCAA Tournament game. That's because this is the school's first winning season (23-16-1).

AIC is located in Springfield, Massachusetts and has an enrollment of 1.424 undergraduates.

NOTES: AIC meets the University of Denver in the next round of the NCAAs, needing one more win to play in the Frozen Four Championship...Hockey East regular seaason champ UMass won its opening NCAA playoff game, beating Harvard 4-0.
