Patriots coach Bill Belichick says tight end Rob Gronkowski's claim that he will play in the season opener against Miami is a bit premature and that he will "make a decision that is best for the team."

On Monday Gronk told reporters he is ready, willing and able to play Sunday. He is coming off knee surgery and did not appear in any preseason games.

Belichick said in a conference call Tuesday afternoon that "we will go through a week of practice , look at everybody and everything and see where everybody is at and try to do what is best for the team."
