Legendary Boston sportswriter Bob Ryan made a stop in Bangor on Monday night to talk with sports fans in the area.

The event was hosted by “The Drive” radio show on the Ticket, that airs from 4-6 p.m. weekdays, to connect the long-time sportscaster with fans in the greater-Bangor area.  Ryan, who retired from the Boston Globe as a full-time columnist in 2012, also appeared in numerous television programs during his career, including the popular “Around The Horn” and “Pardon The Interruption” shows on ESPN.

At the show located at the Sea Dog Brew Pub in Bangor, Ryan talked about topics ranging from the Celtics playoff series with the Cleveland Cavaliers, the future of the Cs franchise, the Sox play of late, and reminisced about some of his favorite moments from his time as a beat reporter for the Globe.

Ryan has won the NSMA National Sportswriter of the Year award four times (2000, 2007, 2008, and 2009) and currently hosts a podcast titled “Bob Ryan’s Boston Podcast” that debuted in March of this year.  The sportswriter also divulged that he would be .  He also still contributes columns to the Boston Globe and said he enjoys traveling the country in his retirement with his wife.
