BREAKING NEWS: The Boston Red Sox have put pitcher Chris Sale on the 10-day injured list with inflammation in his elbow. He had a MRI on the elbow today and now they want to get a second opinion from Dr. James Andrews. He is the 'Tommy John Surgery' expert.

Sale threw 108 pitches in 6.2 innings Tuesday vs Cleveland. He had elbow tightness both Wednesday and Thursday but didn't say anything to trainers until yesterday.

Sox president of baseball ops Dave Dombrowski talked with reporters before tonight's game...

The move to go on the IL is retroactive to August 14th.

Ryan Brasier was called up from Pawtucket to take his roster spot for now.
