UMaine captain Cam Brown is one of 66 players from 40 different schools to be nominated for college hockey's prestigious Hobey Baker Award.

Brown has four goals and 25 assists for the Black Bears this season. His 29 points leads the team.

The first phase of fan voting for the award began this week and continues through March 5th. The field of 66 gets narrowed down to the top 10 on March 15th. The fan voting is just one part of the selection process.

UMaine has had two Hobey Baker Award winners - Paul Kariya(1993) and Scott Pellerin(1992).

The award takes into consideration a players' strength of character on and off the ice. It is considered college hockey's top award. Hobey Baker was regarded as an amateur hero will playing sports at Princeton and was a World War I fighter pilot.
