The New England Patriots kicked a last second field goal Friday night and beat the Detroit Lions 30-28 in their third preseason game but at what cost?

Receiver Julian Edelman suffered a non-contact knee injury early in the game and it is feared that he has a torn ACL. That would be a season ender.

Edelman flew back to Foxboro with the team after the game and will have more tests today.

The Patriots took a 24-0 first quarter lead as Tom Brady threw a couple of TD passes. Brady was 12-for-15 and 174 yards.

As reserve players starting coming into the game, the Patriots lost the lead and trailed 28-24 before Steven Gostkowski kicked two late field goals to win it.

But, how serious the Edelman injury - that is the big takeaway from this one.
