The UMaine quarterback battle is over - for now. Redshirt freshman Chris Ferguson has won the job and the Pennsylvania native gets the start vs UNH on August 31st.

Ferguson is 6-foot-4 and 226 pounds. He played his high school football at LaSalle Academy and spent last year at UMaine but did not play.

"Chris Ferguson will be our starting quarterback," Coach Joe Harasymiak said. "He has demonstrated a complete body of work throughout this preseason. We feel that Chris gives us the best opportunity to be successful. We are excited about moving forward from this as a team and focusing on UNH." - UMaine Press Release

Ferguson beat out redshirt junior Drew Belcher, senior transfer Max Staver and freshman Isaiah Robinson.

The Black Bears completed the second full scrimmage on Friday and made the QB decision this morning.
