Former UMaine Black Bear quarterback Warren Smith has been named MVP of the Professional Indoor Football League (PIFL). Smith quarterbacked the expansion team called the Trenton Freedom and led the team to an 8-4 record and a playoff berth.

The PIFL is an 8-team indoor football league which began in 2012. Smith's Trenton team was one of two expansion teams added for the season that started back in March and ended earlier this month. The indoor football game uses a 50-yard long by 28-yard wide field.

Smith threw 46 touchdowns and rushed for another 13 TDs for the Trenton team.

In 2011 as a senior at UMaine, Smith led the Black Bears to a 9-4 record and set a school record with 3,122 passing yards that season.

This 2014 season was Smith's 2nd year in the PIFL. In 2013 he quarterbacked the Richmond team...check out some of his highlights...
