In a back-and-forth battle, the Hodgdon Hawks upset the Fort Fairfield Tigers in the final Class C quarterfinal game of the tournament Wednesday afternoon.

The Hawks, who came in as the No. 7 seed, held on to a slim lead over the No. 2 Tigers, eventually coming away with a 45-38 win at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor.

Senior Jimmy Buzzell and junior Daden Palmer were able to sink some key free-throws in the final seconds to seal the deal for the Hawks, who advance to the semifinals against the Bucksport Golden Bucks

Buzzell finished with 24 points for Hodgdon. Daden Palmer added 11 points. They were named the co-McDonald's most valuable players of the game.

Fort Fairfield finishes the season at 14-5. Hodgdon improves to 11-8.

Christopher Giberson led the Tigers with 11 points.

Hodgdon had Fort Fairfield's number during the regular season, beating the Tigers twice by narrow margins.
