It's official now - Fort Kent's Austin Theriault is 2017 ARCA Series champion. He needed only to show up for the Kansas Speedway race Friday night, the final event on the ARCA Series.

The race itself did not go so well - Theriault had a tire cut about 54 laps into the race and sent his #52 Kenny Schrader Team car into the wall. He finished 25th, his worst finish of the season.

But it really didn't matter.

Theriault dominated in ARCA Series so much over the season, seven wins, 19 top-10 finishes. More than enough points to win the national series championship.

The awards banquet will be held in December.

Michael Self won the Kansas 150 race, his first ARCA win.
