These are Bangor, Maine’s Top Ten Restaurants According to Yelp

Going out to eat is one of my favorite activities.

I'm not even sure it counts as an activity when you're sitting down stuffing your face. Activity implies exercise, and I feel like eating is the opposite, in most cases. But when my wife and I take vacations, the first thing we do is choose places we know will have a kick-ass food scene.

Every year it seems, Maine gets a little more recognition on the national food scene as a destination where you can depend on good eats. And along those same lines, the food scene in the Bangor area is growing all the time. When I grew up here in the 80's and 90's, it was kind of ghost town for dinners.

Bangor has come a long way.

These days, we have a ton of options around here. Of course, in some ways the area had to up its game when concerts started becoming a regular thing on the Bangor Waterfront. Not only did we just need more places to put all the influx of concertgoers, they also wanted variety.

So more and more, Bangor is finding itself on the map. As such, more and more people are taking to Yelp to leave their opinion. Whether you agree or disagree is kind of irrelevant. These are reviews left by the folks who were there. And of course, there are a ton of absolutely fantastic places to go that aren't on the list at all.

Basically, this is a don't-shoot-the-messenger kind of scenario. I'm just telling you what the reviews say. It was based on a search in Yelp of the are restaurants that are highest rated. "Best" is such a subjective term; it really is up to you. But let's dive in and see where folks on Yelp keep their loyalties...
