The University of Presque Isle has hired Dan Kane as athletic director and men's basketball coach. He takes over those jobs from Mike Holmes who left UMPI earlier in the year to take a job in the midwest.

Kane played hoops at Central HS and then playe college ball at Husson and UMaine Farmington. After his playing days, Kane became an assistant coach at UMF under Dick Meader. He spent last season as an assistant coach at Connecticut College.

UMaine Presque Isle teams compete in both NCAA Division III and USCAA. The school offers 12 teams playing 8 different sports.

The men's basketball finished with a 12-11 record a year ago.
