Four time Boston Maraton champion Bill Rodgers threw out the ceremonial first pitch at Fenway and then the Red Sox went on to beat the Baltimore Orioles 7-1 in a rain shortened Patriots Day game.

After the O's batted in the top of the 7th inning, the teams waited for nearly two hours for the rain to stop. It did not and the game was called. Sox win.

Justin Masterson pitched the first five innings, giving up just one run and struck out six.

The Sox scored unearned runs in the third inning when the Orioles committed three errors.

Dustin Pedroia had two hits. Mookie Betts scored two runs.

Maine's Ryan Flaherty had another two hits for the Birds.

Now it's on to Tampa Bay for a series with the Rays starting Tuesday night.
