According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, New York Giants Head Coach Ben McAdoo has been fired from the team.

McAdoo had been with the Giants since 2014 and was the Head Coach of the team since 2016, when he took over the role held by Tom Coughlin.  During his two seasons, he compiled a 13-15 record overall, losing in the NFC Wild Card game versus Green Bay last year.

McAdoo had been under fire by the fan base for benching long-time QB Eli Manning in favor of Geno Smith, ending the former's consecutive start streak that dated back to the 2004 season.  Defensive Coordinator Steve Spagnuolo will serve as the interim head coach for the remainder of the 2017 season.

It was the first in-season firing of a head coach by the franchise since the 1976 season.  The team also let go GM Jerry Reese as part of the string of firings.  The Giants will host the Dallas Cowboys in their next contest on Sunday.
