N'East Regional: Colford, Comrades Beat NH 6-4

The Bangor Coffee News Comrades are down to the final four in the American Legion Northeast Regional Baseball Tournament. The (2-1) Comrades take on Shrewsbury, Massachusetts today at 10:30am.

UPDATE Noon Saturday, August 5th: Raining in Worecester, Massachetts. The start of play has been delayed.

Friday, August 4th: Bangor Coffee News Comrades pitcher Jesse Colford has done it again, pitching his team to another American Legion win at the Northeast Regional Tournament.A 6-4 victory over Rochester, New Hampshire Friday afternoon improves the Comrades record to 2-1in the regional. The team plays a fourth round game Saturday morning as one of only four teams left playing in the tournament.

Colford pitched the first eight innings, allowing three unearned runs. He scattered six hits, did not walk a batter and struck out six.

Noah Missbrenner pitched the 9th inning to get the save, giving up one run.

Trailing 3-1 the Comrades scored a run in the 6th inning, three runs in the 7th and another run in the 8th to secure the win.

Bangor pounded out 12 hits, Zach Murray had three of them and a RBI. Missbrenner, Ethan Stoddard, Zach Cowperthwaite and Ryan Brookings all had two hits each.

The Comrades overcame committing four errors.

Next for the Coffee News Bangor team, a 10:30am Saturday matchup against either Braintree, Massachusetts or Shrewsbury, Massachusetts.
