The Kyrie Irving-Gordon Hayward Boston Celtics era begins with a 94-82 preseason win over the Charlotte Hornets.

Irving finished with 9 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals in about 20 minutes of action.

Hayward had 5 points and 5 rebounds in about 17 minutes.

Neither guy played in the second half.

Coach Brad Stevens played 15 different players and 14 of them scored.

Daniel Theiss, a rookie who has been playing in Europe, was actually the C's top scorer with 12 points.

The Celts play Philly Friday night in the second preseason game.
