BREAKING NEWS: A bold move made by the first place Boston Red Sox. In order to make room on the roster for Dustin Pedroia, the Sox have 'designated for assignment' 1B/DH Hanley Ramirez.

Ramirez is in a deep slump (0-for-21) and after a hot start to the season, Hanley is hitting only .163 in May.

He is only 302 plate appearances away from kicking in his $22-million-dollar extension for next year.

Now the Sox have seven days to either trade or release Ramirez.

The Sox play Atlanta at Fenway tonight and live coverage on Sports Radio 92.9 The Ticket starts at 6:25pm.
