Bangor Rams senior Carson Atherley is the 2016-17 Maine Gatorade Player of the Year for boys soccer. He helped lead the Rams to the Class A state championship last fall.

As a midfielder for the Rams, Athlerley scored 18 goals and had seven assists. He won KVAC Player of the Year, and Class A Player of the Year.

Atherley maintained a 3.88 GPA and will play soccer at Brown University in the fall.

He becomes the second Bangor player to win the state Gatorade Player of the Year honor. Dylan George won the award in 2005.
