.Among the hundreds of players cut by NFL teams on Saturday were two former UMaine Black Bears - LB Sterling Sheffield and TE Drew Belcher. The news is much better for OL Jamil Demby who has made the LA Rams 53-man roster.

Sheffield was invited to a rookie tryout camp after April's NFL Draft and was signed. He was cut of Friday. The Bengals ended up keeping five linebackers.

Quarterback turned tight end Drew Belcher was signed by the Arizona Cardinals as an undrafted free agent in May. The Cards kept only two tight ends.

The news is btter for OL Jamil Demby was is one of eight lineman on the initial LA Rams 53-man roster.

Demby was drafted by the Rams in the 2018 draft. He was picked by by the Lions off waivers last season and eventually returned to the Rams.

NOTE: NFL are now working on their 10-player practice squads. It is possible Sheffield and Belcher could end of on one of these squads...Former Black Bear Pat Ricard has made the Baltimore Ravens team for a third straight year. The Ravens use him as both a defensive tackle and fullback.
