A University of Maine men’s basketball player put up a memorable performance last night in the European U20 Championship Division B win for Great Britain over Azerbaijan by a score 111-68.

Sophomore guard Danny Evans led all players in the contest with 25 points in the win and finished up a 4-1 group schedule.  Next up for the Great Britain squad will be a quarterfinal match-up slated for Friday.

Evans at the event so far has logged 8.5 points per game and chipped in 2.3 rebounds while averaging 13 minutes for his home country.  He averaged 4 points with the Black Bears last year as a freshman and started 22 games for UMaine.  Evans is playing with America East standout Akwasi Yeboah of Stony Brook.

UMaine is set to begin their 2017-18 schedule in the fall and is expected to officially release their schedule in the next few days.
