The Boston Bruins have released former UMaine Black Bear Teddy Purcell from his Professional Tryout Agreement.

Purcell was trying to make the teams as a veteran but it appears the Bruins will have a younger look when the season opens Thursday night. He scored one goal during the preseason.

Purcell, 32-years-old, is now free to sign with any team.

The B's also sent three players to their AHL Providence team - Tommy Cross, Jordan Szwarz and Jakub Zboril.

The Bruins open the season against the Nashville Preds on Thursday night.
