Predicted heavy snow and high winds are causing cancellations across the state, including schools, activities, and businesses.

Just when we all started to think maybe we were in for an early spring, Mother Nature has hit us with another major winter storm. The snow will be heavy and there could be a wintry mix to follow it along the coast. So many school districts and businesses have decided to call for a snow day.

We'll be updating our lists throughout the storm. Here's what we have so far, for Wednesday:

Schools

  • Bangor School Department - all after school activities canceled today
  • Kennebec Valley Community College - closing at 5:00 this afternoon
  • RSU 26 - Orono High School 8th grade Parent info night postponed to March 21st

General

  • Augusta - Winter Parking Ban from 6 p.m. Wednesday to noon on Friday
  • Bangor - Parking Ban from 11 p.m. Thursday to 6 a.m. Thursday. Trash will not be picked up on Thursday. Those who normally get trash picked up on Thursday, will have it picked up on Friday. Friday's normal pickup locations will have their trash collected on Saturday.
  • Lincoln Christian Fellowship - Evening services canceled for Wednesday
  • Morrill Baptist Church - Kids SUPER club and all adult classes canceled for Wednesday
  • Rockland Elks - Bingo canceled for Wednesday
  • Stone Mountain Arts Center - Lyle Lovett/Shawn Colvin concert canceled
  • Union Congregational Church on Union Falls - Wednesday's Lent Service is canceled
  • Charleston Town Offices closing Wednesday evening, remaining closed all day Thursday.
