The Bangor Rams defeated the Bonny Eagle Scots Saturday night to claim the state championship of the state's largest schools.

Bangor, the north champions, led after each quarter, finishing off the south champion-Scots 58-48 at the Cross Insurance Arena in Portland.

The Scots were able to cut the Rams' double-digit lead to just three points with about two minutes to go in the fourth quarter, but the Rams regained control on a jumper by Matt Fleming and a drive to the hoop by Damien Vance to bump the lead back up to eight points.

From there, Bangor was able to seal the victory with key free throws as the Scots were forced to foul.

Damien Vance led the Rams with 20 points. Matt Fleming had 19 points in the win. Noah Missbrenner added nine points, and Henry Westrich had six points.

Junior Zach Maturo led Bonny Eagle (18-4) with 19 points.

It's the Rams' first state championship since 2011. Bangor finishes the season at 20-2.
