The Hampden Academy boys closed out Wednesday night at the Augusta Civic Center with a win while the Bangor girls also advanced to the Eastern Maine Class A championship game earlier in the day.

Hampden Academy Remains Perfect

Tyler Norris set the tone offensively for the Broncos scoring 11 of the team's 22 first quarter points, as they win easily 65-35 over Lewiston Blue Devils. Hampden was in control of this game from the beginning as they raced out to a 10 point advantage in the first quarter and from there it would never slip under double digits. Cam Scott played some stellar defense on Lewiston's best player Joe Thomas, holding him to five points on the night. Zach Gilpin and Brian Fickett, each had 12 points, but leading the way was Tyler Norris as he was named the McDonald's MVP with his 18-point performance.

MDI Boys Bounce Presque Isle

MDI Trojans beats Presque Isle Wildcats in a good one, 51-40. It was a back-and-forth trough three quarter as neither team could really pull away. Ben Walls for MDI started off slow offensively, but defensively he created problems for Presque Isle's Tyler Brooks and Johan Stephenson. Cody Lyford for the wildcats hit some big three in the second quarter, to give Presque Isle a four-point lead at the break. The Trojans stuck with the game plan and got solid performances from Ben Walls, Adam Gray, and Keegan McKim, as they all had 10 points each. McKim was key for MDI late as the Wildcats were forced to foul to extend the game and McKim was eight for eight at the free throw line. MDI now awaits to play Medomak in the Eastern Maine State Finals game. Story

Presque Isle Girls Power Past MDI to Make EM Class B Final

Presque Isle senior Megan Ireland showed how to lead by example as she hit four 3-pointers in the second half to help the Wildcats advance to the EM Class "B" finals with a 62-48 win over the MDI Trojans.  MDI lead in the 3rd quarter but Ireland along with fellow senior Chandler Guerrette began to flex their muscle to surge into a lead and never looked back.  The Wildcats extend their winning streak out to an astonishing 42 straight games, dating back to last year.  Presque Isle will face Nokomis in the finals, a rematch of last years EM title game. Denae Johnson scored 17 points to lead the second seed Bangor Rams to the Eastern Maine Class A championship game following a 56-44 win over Mt. Ararat at the Augusta Civic Center on Wednesday afternoon. The game was close throughout, but key hoops and clutch free throws helped propel the Rams to the victory. The Rams will play the winner of the Cony-Lawrence game.

Penquis Cruises to Semifinal Birth, Looks for Revenge

The boys of Penquis High School only lost once this season to the Dexter Tigers, now they will look to get that win back as they will face Dexter in the Class C semifinals.  Penquis had no problem handling the #7 seeded Stearns Minutemen in a 51-23 win.  Isaiah Bess lead all scorers with 21 points and, in the process, joined the ranks of 1,000 career point scorers.

Dexter Boys Earn Upset in Class C Quarterfinals

Trevor Fogerty threw in 16 points to lead all scorers as the Dexter Tigers knocked off the #3 seeded Lee Academy Pandas 41-38.  Fogerty hit some clutch free throws down the stretch to put the Tigers into the semifinals.  Matthew Crane also added 13 points for the Tigers.
