Scarborough High School running back Owen Garrard has been named the Gatorade Maine Football Player of the Year.

The 6-foot, 230-pound runner and linebacker helped lead the Red Storm to the Class A state championship. He ran for 1,204 yards and 24 TDs. On defense Garrard was in on 76 tackles.

For his career, Garrard rushed for over 2,600 yards and 48 TDs.

He is also on the semi-final list for Maine's Fitzpatrick Trophy Award that goes to the top senior in the state.
