After Steven Gostkowski kicked a late game go-ahead field goal, the NY Giants went down the field and kicked a game-winning field goal to beat the New England Patriots 40-38 in the final preseason game.

Let the real games begin!

Both teams played with backup players most of the night and quarterbacks had a field day. Pats third string QB Jacoby Brissett played every snap and was 28-for-39, 341 yards, four TDs and one interception. The Giants used Josh Johnson, Geno Smith and Davis Webb and combined threw for 342 yards and two TDs.

In a game where everybody just wants to leave the stadium healthy, the Patriots did not. Safety and punt returned Cyrus Jones left with a knee injury. Defensive lineman Woodrow Hamilton left with a leg injury.

Former Westbrook HS and UMaine linebacker Trevor Bates had six tackles (3 solo) as he tries to earn a roster spot.

Cutdown day is Saturday. Next Thursday is the season opener vs Kansas City.
