The UMaine men's basketball team stepped into the Big East Conference to take on the Georgetown Hoyas and lost 76-55.
Former Hoya and NBA great Patrick Ewing is in his first year as head coach at his old school. They are now 5-0.
Maine drops to 1-6.
The Hoyas jumped out to the early 11-2 lead. Maine then had a spurt but at halftime Georgetown had a 16 point lead.
The differential stayed about the same in the second half as the Hoyas outscored the Bears 36-31.
Aaron Calixte had 17 points to lead Maine.
Kaleb Johnson had 18 to lead Georgetown.
Next for the Black Bears, a game at Fordham Saturday afternoon.
