Coffee Chain With 30 Maine Locations to Increase Parental Leave
This popular coffee chain has recently announced plans to increase benefits for their employees, particularly for soon-to-be parents in Maine.
Listen, we love coffee, we love parents, and we especially love barista parents who make sure we get our coffee. So, let’s show them some extra love and appreciation when we can—because they deserve every bit of it!
With that in mind, which popular coffee chain, boasting several dozen locations in Maine, is set to expand parental leave benefits?
Starbucks CEO Brian Niccol announced a major enhancement to the company’s parental leave benefits for employees, known as ‘green apron partners,’ who work 20 hours or more per week.
Starting in March 2025, birth parents will receive up to 18 weeks of fully paid leave, while non-birth parents will get up to 12 weeks of fully paid leave.
Niccol claims that this change is the ‘best parental leave benefit in retail.’ As part of the ‘Back to Starbucks’ plan, this change came after feedback from ‘green apron partners’ seeking greater support for new parents. Niccol emphasized Starbucks' commitment to offering competitive pay and top-tier benefits, reinforcing its goal of being the best retail employer.
So, now you know: Starbucks has announced plans to enhance parental benefits for its 'green apron partners,' starting in 2025.
What are your thoughts on this move by Starbucks and their CEO, Brian Niccol? Is this a change you’d like to see other companies adopt in the new year? We’d love to hear from you! Feel free to join the conversation by messaging us on the app.
