Bangor right-hander Peter Kemble was named the USA Today American Family Insurance Maine Player of the Year.

The Rams' pitcher was named the High School Player of the Year for his efforts in helping guide Bangor to the school's fourth straight state title in June.  He complied a 7-2 record with a 0.13 ERA and 78 strikeouts.  Kemble will be joining the University of Maine baseball team in the fall.

Joining him on the First Team is Jackson Coutts (Orono), while Alex McKenney (Hampden), Alex Maxsimic (Brewer),  Zach Nash (Hermon), Ryan Hoogterp (Old Town) and Nate Howard (Erskine) were Second Team selections.

Orono coach Don Joseph was named the Coach of the Year by the publication after guiding the Red Riots to their first state title since 1994.  Orono posted a 14-6 record and bested Lisbon in the title game on a walk-off 4-3 win.
