Lufkin Adds NE Title To Shot Put Resume

Add the New England Indoor Championship in shot put to the growing resume of Brewer High School senior Austin Lufkin.

Lufkin distanced himself from the rest of the field with a throw of 61-feet-9-and-a-half-inches at the New England meet in Boston over the weekend. His closest competition was seven feet off that mark.

Lufkin already owns the New England outdoor shot put record.

Just last month he broke a 40-year record for Maine high school with a throw of 61-feet 2-inches.
