The Skowhegan Indians defeated the defending regional champion Hampden Broncos in a thriller Saturday evening in Augusta.

It was a back-and-forth battle for the entire game, but after taking a slim lead in the fourth quarter, the No. 7 Indians were able to hold off the No. 2 Broncos for a 68-63 win at the Augusta Civic Center.

Marcus Christopher finished with 26 points in the win for the Indians. Freshman Levi Obert had nine points on three key three pointers late in the third quarter that gave the Indians a cushion heading into the final quarter.

For the Broncos, Bryce Lausier had 27 points, including 15 fourth-quarter points.

No. 7 Skowhegan will play No. 6 Brewer in the Class A North semifinal on Wednesday in Augusta.

Skowhegan improves to 9-10.

Hampden finishes the year at 14-5.
